CENTRE of CURLING EXCELLENCE COMMUNIQUE REGARDING 2020 SUMMER CAMPS

In light of the COVID-19 crisis and guidelines set by the province of New Brunswick, the CCE Board has voted to cancel the July/August 2020 summer camps. The camps depend on a large number of participants from outside the province, and those curlers will not be able to attend due to New Brunswick restrictions prohibiting visitors from outside the province.

While much is still uncertain, we are looking for and planning ahead to have events in place for a best-case scenario. We will continue to monitor and communicate as we received updated information.

Jennifer Jones

She won an Olympic gold medal as skip of the Canadian team at the 2014 Sochi Games. She is the first female skip to go through the Games undefeated. The only male skip to achieve this is fellow Canadian Kevin Martin in 2010. Jones and her squad are the first Manitoba based curling team to win an Olympic gold medal. She is the 2008 World Champion, and as of 2016, is the last Canadian women’s team to do so. Jones has won the national championship five times, most recently during the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. To go along with her national championships, Jones has also won the Manitoba provincial championship ten times.
