Due to continued restrictions under COVID-19, the CCE has not scheduled any summer camps for 2021. Should conditions change, we will update this information.

Marcolini – Ontario

Hi Ellery, Mike Marcolini here. Kelsea was one of your campers in early August, at Curl Moncton.
Just wanted to give you some feedback. 2 days of continual chatter on the way back to Ontario, told my wife and I she loved it. We were greeted by Andrew at the University on Sunday. The room keys were there and I was encouraged to see the room, meet the other kids, and help Kels get settled. Andrew’s warm smile and outgoing personality assured me the kids were going to be well taken care of, and safe. It was Kelsea’s first camp, and we were 16 hours from home. I left the residence feeling great.
My wife flew in on Monday night, and we decided to take a quick peak into the club on Tuesday morning. The kids were doing a dryland class, then hit the ice. You, Tony, Rick and Andrew were very welcoming and engaging. Questions were answered and we were encouraged to come anytime and stay as long as we wanted. We wanted to give Kels her time. We felt completely at ease, and didn’t stay long. We did see lots of technical instruction going on. The groups were small, and the instructor ratios were great.
Although we didn’t see her much, we got updates every day. Their days were completely full, starting early and going till between 9 and 10 P.M. She loved the dry land training, and also the nutrition seminars, the mental approach seminars, and took pages of notes during the presentation by the umpire.
And, of course, it didn’t hurt having Mary-Anne Arsenault and Russ Howard there. She is very familiar with both these people. She throws lead, and occasionally second where her team asks her to hit often. Mary-Anne spoke about the front end, and Russ was all about angles and hitting. She loved it.
The team cheer and scavenger hunt were also great team building activities, and the banquet with the two pros topped the week off.
Ellery, you left her with a technical impression. She speaks of you telling her not to say the ice is slow or fast.
…give me a number. Russ spoke of closing your eyes, and throwing your draw.
These two statements have stuck with her, and she brought them up at her team curling meeting last weekend.
The week was a huge success, and Kelsea has already said she wants to go back next year. She met loads of great kids, got exposure to a University campus, received valuable instruction, and had loads of fun.
Thank you for teaching my girl, and for taking care of her for the week. Your team was amazing.
We hope to see you again next summer.
